Getting to Ksamil

Ksamil is a small village on the Riviera, about 17 km south of Saranda and right next to Butrint National Park. It has no airport or port of its own: you always get there via Saranda.

1. Village centre Best for most people

Ksamil is compact: from the centre you can walk to the main beaches — Bora Bora, Ksamil 9 — and have supermarkets, restaurants and a pharmacy to hand. It's the most practical, best-value option: you sleep 5-10 minutes' walk from the water for quite a bit less than on the beachfront.

2. Beachfront Wake up by the sea

The hotels right on the beaches charge for their location, and in July and August prices approach those in Greece. In return: you go straight from your room to the sunlounger. If your plan is pure beach and the budget allows, it's the full Ksamil experience — but book months ahead, they sell out first.

3. Outskirts — towards Butrint and Pema e Thatë Peace and value

Heading south out of the village, the pace slows: newer, more spacious places to stay, less crowded beaches and the archaeological park of Butrint (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) minutes away. Ideal with a car; without one, you'll rely on taxis to get around.
