Dhërmi hotels on the beach: best areas and beachfront stays (2026)
Dhërmi is the beach capital of the Albanian Riviera: a long shore of pebbles and turquoise water at the foot of limestone cliffs, with beach clubs running from midday to midnight and, on the slope above, a stone-built old town known as 'the one with 40 churches'. It's ideal for anyone after sun, a summer atmosphere and good sunsets, but it also works for couples and families who prefer the quieter Drymades or the old town. The high season runs from June to September; for July and the first half of August it's worth booking well ahead.
Getting to Dhërmi
Dhërmi sits right on the Riviera, along the coast road. The practical route today is to fly into Tirana and continue overland:
✈️Tirana (TIA) airport — the practical gateway today, ~210-230 km / ~3 h 30-4 h away by car or bus.
✈️Vlora airport — the closest (~75 km), but still without regular commercial flights in 2026: check before relying on it.
🚗From Vlora over the Llogara pass — with the new tunnel (2025) the winding stretch takes just minutes; views where the Adriatic and Ionian meet.
🚌Bus — Vlora–Dhërmi (~1 h 15, ~8-10 €) and Tirana–Dhërmi (~3 h 30); more limited services out of season.
🛥️Ferry from Corfu — there's no direct one: you cross Corfu→Saranda and carry on up the coast to the north.
🚗By car is the most convenient way to move between the centre, Drymades and the old town, and to reach coves like Gjipe and Jale.
The 3 areas to stay in Dhërmi
1. Dhërmi Beach — centre Beach and buzz
The main strip of beach, the heart of the destination: this is where the beach clubs, bars and the greatest concentration of seafront accommodation are. Everything is within walking distance and there's a buzz at night. In return, at the height of summer it's the noisiest and priciest area, and the beach gets packed. Ideal if you're here for the atmosphere and the convenience of having it all next door.
2. Drymades Relaxed, right on the beach
The neighbouring beach, some 3 km to the south, with a reputation for being more laid-back and bohemian. It has beach clubs and lovely sunsets, but a calmer pace than the centre, with several resorts right on the beach. On the downside, access is via a road that drops steeply and it's best to have a car or rely on transfers. The best option for quality, relaxation and beach.
3. Old town Views and price
The old quarter climbs the hillside above the coast: stone lanes, old churches and viewpoints with sweeping views over the Ionian and the sunsets. It's the calm, authentic side of Dhërmi, with boutique hotels in restored houses and noticeably lower prices. On the downside, you're up high, so getting down to the beach means a car or a transfer.
Excursions and activities from Dhërmi
Dhërmi gives twice as much with a couple of well-chosen excursions: the beach and canyon-cove of Gjipe, neighbouring Jale, a day at a beach club, and boat trips along the Riviera or to the monastery of St Theodore. These are the most booked activities, most with free cancellation:

The best room we stayed in anywhere in Albania: super modern and very comfortable, with everything you need. The balcony and the views were fantastic, and we could walk down to the beach whenever we liked.

Excellent location right on the beach and clean, refurbished rooms. If you can, take a junior suite with a hot tub and private pool to watch the sunset: highly recommended. The hotel restaurant does incredible aged steaks.

The breakfast was spectacular!!! Super super complete. The lad on reception was very attentive and helpful. The pool and the view, a million out of ten. Everything beautiful. We ordered pizza for delivery — they gave us the menu with the phone number and that was that! I've only just left and I already want to go back!

It's great. The views are superb and the pool area is very pleasant. Everything is clean and it's super comfortable. It's on the edge of the village and a little way from the seafront (5 minutes by car), but if you're after peace and quiet… it's great.

A magical, incredible place — the view, the staff and the owners go out of their way to look after you and give you a great time. The breakfast was very complete, excellent. The room they gave us couldn't have been better, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom spacious, clean and well kept.
